Powerboss is an intelligent motor
controller with unique application specific software that
continuously monitors the load condition of a motor and deliver

2. What types of motors will
Powerboss work on?
Powerboss can be installed on most
types of A/C Induction motors. These motors are by far the most
common form of electro-mechanical engineering in the world and
are used in; the production of almost every product we purchase,
every service we utilise and every building we enter - motors
are literally everywhere.
3. What kinds of
applications are ideal for Powerboss?
Most motors are utilized in
applications where they are operating for much of the time under
less than full load. Powerboss is able to intelligently
recognize even slight changes in demand and adjust the power
accordingly in less than 100th of a second. Suitable
applications are found in both commerce and industry in addition
to many public buildings.

5. Does Powerboss conform to
international standards?
Powerboss is precision engineered to
the highest possible standards. All our manufacturing processes
are stringently controlled for quality assurance.
Powerboss units are marked with CE,
UL & CSA certification. It is manufactured to ISO 9002, while
Somar works to ISO 9001 & 14001 standards.
6. What size motors can
Powerboss control?
Most Single-phase motors on a 110v
or 230v supply, and three-phase motors from 2.2kW to 630kW on a
380v-480v supply. Larger units up to 1100v/1450kW can be
specified to order.

7. Is Powerboss a type of
speed controller?
No. The Powerboss control system is
designed to run the motor at a constant speed while optimising
its performance. In simple terms speed controllers are much more
expensive than Powerboss and make energy savings by slowing the
motor down. Powerboss does not affect motor speed during
optimizing. Unlike speed controllers Powerboss is able to save
energy intelligently without adversely effecting motor speed.
Powerboss controls motor torque not speed.
8. What about the
competition?
The unique control algorithms
utilized within Powerboss are totally unique on the world
market. This technology is not available in any other motor
controller. We can, and often do, convincingly demonstrate the
